As the agency embarks on a second century of service, I want to express my gratitude for your support and solidarity in our mission to care for poor and vulnerable neighbors in every county of Western Washington. The Annual Report for the 2017/18 fiscal year is a snapshot by numbers but the real story is that each and every man, woman or child served is more than just a number. Each one is called by name and has a unique story. Our mission and commitment calls us to discover the strengths and dignity of each and to create a path of recovery, renewal and hope.
In my many years as President of CCS/CHS, I am humbled and inspired every day by our staff’s professionalism, dedication and devotion to the needs of those in our care. In the same way, I am inspired by the thousands of volunteers who step up and assist throughout our 170 programs to prepare meals, sort clothing, tutor vulnerable students, visit frail veterans and elders, and so much more. Central to this amazing workforce are our faithful donors, supporters and service partners who are vital in helping sustain programs with slim margins and ensure that 92 cents of every dollar goes directly to services. For all of these; staff, volunteers, donors and partners in service, I am deeply grateful.
I continue each year to be thankful and appreciative for your alliance with us in our care for the people and communities struggling with poverty, abuse, addiction and the effects of intolerance and racism. Please continue to pray and partner with us as we move with each individual, child or family from heartbreak to renewed health, hope and joy.
