Please join Catholic Community Services of Western Washington (CCSWW) by donating to Catholic Charities Hawaii (CCH) to help with urgent needs arising from the devastating fire in Maui last month.
Following consultation with CCH President Rob van Tassell, a former Vice President of our own Catholic Housing Services, CCSWW President Michael Reichert announced that our agency would be making a direct financial contribution immediately.
“While in past years our agency has provided ‘second responders’ for disasters such as the Oso Landslide and Hurricane Katrina…to help with basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter, as well as mental health and other supportive services,” Michael wrote on August 16th, “Rob shared that their immediate need is financial support for those displaced and traumatized by this devastating event. Currently, Catholic Charities Hawaii provides financial assistance directly to families on Maui, assisting them in registering for FEMA relief, and working with the county and others to provide short-term and long-term housing. They are also planning for longer-term grief and trauma-informed counseling.
“Your gift to Catholic Charities Hawaii, no matter the amount, will be a message of solidarity in our common mission of help and hope for our brothers and sisters in critical need. Your consideration of support for this urgent need is deeply appreciated.”
CCSWW leadership remains in close consultation with CCH, ready to provide whatever help we can as needed.
