Who Are We?
The Dialogue for Justice is a partnership of Catholic parishes and organizations working together to effectively advocate to reduce poverty in our communities. The Dialogue for Justice is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Seattle and coordinated by Catholic Community Services of Western Washington.
“Oh, how I would like a poor Church, and for the poor.”
– Pope Francis
Advocating on behalf of the poor and vulnerable in our communities is central to our values as an organization and woven throughout our Mission Statement. The Catholic Church has a history of social teaching that reaches back centuries and provides a compelling challenge for responsible living. We believe that all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable, should be greeted with compassion and embraced with love and deep respect.
In the Catholic tradition, responsible citizenship is a virtue and participation in political life is a moral obligation. Catholic Advocacy gives us an opportunity to join our voices with those in need without partisanship. Writing a letter, sending an email, leaving a brief phone message, and attending in-person meetings or lobby days are all ways to educate elected officials about poverty. By doing one of these easy activities, you can advocate for those in need in your community. And you don’t have to do it alone – click here to learn more about how you can get involved!
The Dialogue for Justice is committed to providing our partners with the tools they need to fully participate in the legislative process with confidence and ease. We can assist you in wading through what is often complicated and confusing technical legislative language to get to the heart of the poverty issues, and help you understand the bottom line impact for their community. Dialogue for justice is dedicated to providing our partners with ongoing information and technical assistance. Using the resources available through Dialogue for Justice, we can help you make an effective plan for advocacy that results in a timely and thoughtful response to the issues that matter most to you, your parish/group, and your community.
