Teams of CCS staff volunteer with Annunciation House in El Paso, Texas.

Annunciation House serves as the main shelter in El Paso assisting asylum seekers released by detention centers. One of the most beneficial ways our teams are contributing is by transporting families to the bus station or airport and helping them understand – as much as language proficiency would allow – the travel details to the destination of their family or friend sponsor. At this point CCS will be sending a total of ten teams to serve through the end of June.

“It was truly a privilege to be able to witness and participate in how the community has come together around the Center in an amazing ministry of accompaniment for the families released from detention. The spiritual benefit of witnessing repaid the physical and mental efforts of participation a thousand times over. Even as guests arrived and departed, most often in one to two days, the harmony and common purpose of the community of guests, volunteers, donors and diocesan staff remained constant.”– CCS staff testimony
