Details:
The Family Housing Network Day Center is a drop-in site in Tacoma that serves families who are experiencing homelessness. The Day Center is open 7 days a week, providing computer access, showers, laundry facilities, meals, diapers, and open use of the community kitchen.
We are looking for volunteers who can help on Mondays and Fridays to welcome and assist families who are visiting the day center and coming to access services.
Volunteers will be working directly with staff and guests. Tasks will include helping families schedule shower times, helping manage the guest laundry schedule, packing diaper kits and helping staff maintain a small library of children’s books.
Shift times are flexible but help is needed from 10 am to 2 pm and/or from 2pm to 5 pm.
All required PPE is provided by CCS for volunteers.
Ideal volunteer candidates are people who are:
- Are great with kids and families
- Leave judgement at the door
- Help foster a warm and welcoming environment
- Understand how to build relationships and make people feel comfortable
- Care about community
- Are flexible when needed
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Volunteer drivers must be background checked (paid for through CCS and updated every 2 years)
ALL volunteer must wear appropriate PPE in and at all CCS facilities (PPE is supplied).
