The Federal Way Day Center opened in December 2016. It provides a welcoming space to adults who are homeless and vulnerably housed. The Day Center offers showers, laundry, computers, phones, mail reception services, space for meal preparation, a full-service low barrier clinic, access to health care and social services. Case Management services are available Monday – Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Active partnerships with Healthpoint, Mobile Medical Van, Valley Cities and Sound Mental Health provide services on a monthly basis.

Hygiene items, limited clothing items, and snacks are generally available to guests visiting the day center.

The Day Center enlists the support of volunteers. If interested, please call 253-893-7895.

The goals of the Day Center include:

  • To provide social and emotional connection.
  • To meet basic human needs of cleanliness.
  • To connect people to resources that will enable them to meet their full potential.

Background:

The Federal Way Day Center grew from the grassroots organizing efforts of concerned neighbors in Federal Way.  They saw that many members of their community had inadequate access to showers, laundry facilities and resources need to get off the streets.  Members of St. Vincent de Paul Church and Sound Alliance built partnerships with the City of Federal Way, the Federal Way Community Caregiving Network, Catholic Community Services, Valley Cities Counseling, King County Multi-Service Center, City Vision, Saltwater Unitarian Church, the Church of the Good Shepard, Steel Lake Presbyterian, Calvary Lutheran, Our Savior Baptist Church, Grace Lutheran, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, and many other local organizations.
