Nativity House Programs Need Your Support!
Goal 1: Refresh the Spaces and Essential Equipment of Nativity House
The spaces and equipment of Nativity House have seen heavy use over the past ten years, and could use some love! By refreshing these spaces and essential equipment, we will be preparing to provide another decade of great services that uplift the inherent dignity of our guests. You support will help us:
· Completely renovate the men’s and women’s bathrooms, including critical improvements to ventilation and more durable fixtures.
· Replacing essential equipment like the walk-in refrigerator and ovens so our guests have nutritious and filling warm meals.
· Expand our laundry room facilities so that everyone has access to clean and warm clothes, no matter the season.
Goal 2: Build New, Creative Programming that Enhances the Work
Nativity House has always been a leader in homelessness services, incubating innovative new programming that meet guests where they are at and help them on the road to independence and permanent housing. These including the creation of an Adult Behavioral Health Program, a Respite Program for people experiencing homelessness who are leaving the hospital and need a safe place to recover, and a Volunteer program where community members can share their talents for music, art, and prayer. In the next ten years, your partnership will allow:
· Expanded case management so we can provide more one-on-one support to clients – a critical form of care to help our guests overcome the obstacles that can prevent them from exiting homelessness.
· Opportunities for guests to add their talents to our wider community like community gardening. Connecting guests with their community is an essential piece of the natural supports that help people exit homelessness and remain housed.
· Continuing to partner with local organizations who can provide services in-house. We already offer many services through this partnerships including foot care through MRC, health care services through SeaMar, and the Salvation Army.
Goal 3: Uplift Staff to Provide better Service and Stronger Community
The heart of services at Nativity House are our staff, who form relationships with guests that are foundational in their journey out of homelessness. This is extremely difficult work, and our staff are with guests during the hardest moments of their lives. Unfortunately, staff time and training are some of the hardest parts of our budget to fund. By supporting this campaign, you help our staff receive:
· Essential trainings so that staff can provide the best care possible to our guests. Training is critical for our staff, giving them the expertise to navigate the most challenging behaviors and experiences of our guests. Training also helps our staff know they are valued, and that we are investing in their development so they can continue to provide excellent care to guests.
· Living and competitive wages. Even in the face of inflation and other economic factors outside of our control, we are dedicated to providing the best pay possible for our staff members as they do incredible work. Appropriate pay helps staff remain at Nativity House, and continue to leverage their expertise and the relationships they have formed with guests to help them exit homelessness.
