“I was so depressed before CCS. Now I’m so thankful! They know a lot about my medical side…it’s like living with your own family,” shares Betty.

We met Betty on a warm Wednesday morning, three days after being released from the hospital. At 92 years young, Betty has a variety of serious medical needs that she manages every day, including eyesight and hearing loss. Meal preparation, daily errands, and personal care are all a struggle. A few years ago, her daughter reached out to Catholic Community Services’ Home Care program, and Betty now has a team of dedicated Home Care Aides (HCAs) helping her with these essential tasks throughout the week. “They know a lot about my medical side,” says Betty, adding that she feels so close to them, “It’s like living with your own family.” For Betty, who had been depressed and had moved constantly prior to connecting with CCS, the fact that she can receive critical care from the stability of her own home is a great relief and an invaluable comfort.

We all have aging family members in need of a little— or a lot— of extra help, or will one day ourselves need support and care. CCS’ Home Care program exists to ensure seniors and those living with disabilities live with dignity and security through tailored services unique to each individual. As our senior population continues to grow, we are constantly looking for new ways to provide solutions to a variety of care challenges and opportunities.
