Michael’s Place
Michael’s Place Transitional Housing Program for Veterans
Michael’s Place offers eighteen beds of transitional housing for Veterans, who are homeless, in recovery from drugs and alcohol and/or have a mental health diagnosis.
A Veteran may be a good fit for Michael’s Place if they meet the following criteria:
- Currently homeless and looking for permanent housing;
- Willing to engage in outpatient treatment/clinical services;
- Willing to participate in on-site recovery and mental health support groups with fellow Veteran residents;
- Ready to meet weekly with the Case Manager on-site to work towards permanent housing;
- Identify as male and are willing to live in a shared-living setting.
The program is structured. There are daily chores, weekly room inspections and group therapy meetings throughout the week to support all residents in their recovery.
Michael’s Place is community living. This means Veterans stay in either a private or shared room in a large house with communal living and eating areas. There’s a weekly community meal, holiday gatherings and other events to bring residents together.
Our hope is that by the end of the Veteran’s stay they will be permanently housed, stronger in their recovery and have attained a stable source of income.
Eligibility requirements:
- Goal of permanent housing, homeless at entry
- Mental Health or Substance Use Disorder diagnosis and willing to participate in treatment
- Registered with the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System
- Served on Active Duty at least one day (outside of training)
- Income at or below 30% of the area median income
