Rose of Lima House

Mission

Rose of Lima House provides permanent, supportive housing to formerly homeless women in a respectful, community focused environment. We seek to encourage independence and provide women with the tools to move out of homelessness, permanently.

History

Rose of Lima House opened in January 1993 in response to an alarming increase in the number of single women facing homelessness with little support and no affordable housing. In September 2010, Rose of Lima House moved to its new home in Bakhita Gardens at 118 Bell Street. The brand-new building provides housing and intensive, individualized support services to 50 women.

Program Overview

Rose of Lima House fulfills its mission by assisting our community’s most vulnerable women in transforming their lives through self-sufficiency and healthy change. Residents receive tailored supportive services and Life Skills training in an environment that fosters a real sense of shared experience and mutual support. By providing a safe and nurturing place for women to heal, Rose of Lima House affords women the opportunity to regain dignity, restore relationships, and transition from homelessness to safe, stable and permanent housing.

Rose of Lima program participates in the WSDA TEFAP food program administered by Food Lifeline, and as such adheres to the USDA Nondiscrimination policy. Click here for more information on that policy.

Rose of Lima House prioritizes serving women who have been chronically homeless and struggling with physical or mental disabilities, addiction, trauma histories or other destabilizing issues.Since its inception, over 200 women have called Rose of Lima House home. 78% have gone on to secure and maintain permanent housing. Residents are offered supportive, community-based living, with a focused effort on addressing issues that lead to homelessness to further prepare each resident for sustained permanent housing Program services include therapeutic case management, mental health counseling, resource referrals, community meals and activities, and a Life Skills program featuring workshops, guest speakers, outings and service projects. Rose of Lima House is part of a continuum of care for homeless women that includes emergency shelter and survival services available through Noel House Programs.
