Seattle Community Outreach Program & Engagement (SCOPE)

Mission
Building a stronger community through support services, engagement, & resources.

Vision
Starbucks stores and the baristas who work there are a part of the community. As such, they see and experience the same local needs that we all do and wanted to do something about it.

Program Overview
In the beginning of 2020, Starbucks partnered with United Way Worldwide to position community outreach workers in and around Starbucks stores in select urban markets.

Community outreach workers engage people in crisis with the objective of developing trusting relationships and helping them achieve long-term stability through housing, employment, healthcare, and other vital services.

Outreach teams connect individuals experiencing homelessness to community resources through referrals to: food services, benefits enrollment, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, medical care, transportation services, identification/documentation, veteran services, workforce development, LGBTQIA+ services, clothing services, shelter services, and housing programs.
