Responsibilities:

The Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) of Catholic Community Services is an innovative and successful after-school/evening academic enrichment program for elementary, middle, and high school scholars who live in low-income and public housing communities in Seattle. YTP operates 5 tutoring centers located close to scholars’ homes making it convenient for families. Our scholars are wonderfully diverse—representing many cultures, languages, and religions and are primarily from refugee and immigrant families. Tutors work with scholars one-on-one or in small groups to promote personal and academic growth. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities including working directly with youth, supporting the behind-the-scenes work of the tutoring center/program or using your specialized skills to assist YTP.

Opportunities include:

  • Individual Tutor – work one-to-one with a scholar at one of our tutoring centers.
  • Intern – go deeper in your volunteer commitment by supporting the center’s logistics and organization, as well as tutoring small groups or learning more about our organization through an internship at our main office.

Our centers are open Monday through Thursday, from 4:20 pm-7:40 pm.

We ask for a minimum volunteer commitment of 1-2 hours per week for 1 school semester, but encourage volunteers to tutor for the full school year.
